Check your health insurance policy for any updates on paying for massage therapy

This week I made a fabulous discovery with my health insurance policy. They have made some changes. They now will pay for me to recieve massage therapy from a licensed massage therapist without a prescription. I am thrilled. This was not the case 2 years ago. So my suggestion to you all is to call your insurance company and make some inquiries. Ask Will they cover massage therapy? Do I need a prescription? Is there a limit? Will they pay a licensed massage therapist? If the massage therapist does not do insurance billing, will they reimburse the client if they submit a reciept? Please feel free to contact me with any questions on this matter. And by all means, I hope some of you get this benefit

NEW! At home spa treatments in Bend, OR

At home spa treatments by body re.Creations

Since these treatments will be performed in the comfort of your own home, a shower will be necessary for the removal of the body polish and mud wrap. All treatments can be customized and modified for you. Please make requests for essential oil use or other specific fresh ingredient choices while making your appointment. These treatments are add-on’s to massage appointments. I have an hour and a half minimum for in home spa treatments when not combined with massage.

Foot Rejuvenation

Here is your chance to give your tired feet the refreshment they deserve. Begin with a soak to pull out impurities and soften the skin. Then enjoy a scrub for your lower legs and feet. The bottoms of your feet are then buffed to reveal soft skin. A mask is then applied, followed by a lovely foot massage. 45 minutes for $60 or 60 minutes (more massage) for $75.

Coconut Body Polish

Lush brown sugar and coconut oil are used to create a decadent full body exfoliation. Utilizing nature’s healing and softening ingredients, it will melt away stress, dry skin and impurities to reveal more youthful and sumptuous skin. Plus with the addition of sweet basil essential oil (known to provide an emotion lift and mental inspiration along with skin rejuvenation) and ylang ylang (said to console heart and elevate the spirit) it surely will delight the senses. 30 minutes for $45

Mud Wrap

Begin with dry brushing to prepare your skin. Then mud will be applied to your body, to pull out toxins and nourish the skin. While you rest, enjoy a head and face massage. 50 minutes for $65

Essential oil blends to choose from may include:

Peace and Calming, Envision, Surrender, Magnify your Purpose, Euphoria, Chill Pill, Pep Talk, Pillow Potion, Mellow Mix, Creative Juice

Chocolate of the God's Mousse

I got this recipe from my latest SHAPE magazine. I was very sceptical, so I made very mini version and oh my goodness, is it fabulous. I do not understand why anyone would make it with all that dairy cream. Be bold, try it and enjoy a sensual food experience. You could either keep the ingredients a secret, or like me, be super excited to talk about the raw, vegan ingredients!
2 avocados
1/2 cup of maple syrup
(optional) 2-4 tbsps of additional sweetner to taste
(optional) 2 tbsps of coconut oil
1-2 tsps of vanilla extract
1 tsp of balsamic vinager
1/2 tsp of low sodium soy sauce (I omitted this ingredient for my family as soy is an allergen)
1 cup of cocoa powder
Put all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. You can eat immediately or serve chilled with raspberries and fresh mint. You can refrigerate for up to a week or freeze for up to a month. Enjoy. I hope you love it as much as I did. Let me know!

Coconut Curry Soup

Healthy, delicious, this recipe is great. It serves 4-6 people and takes 10 minutes to prep and 25 total to cook, how easy. Double it and freeze half. Sub rice for the noodles and add whatever extra veggies your family likes, like spinach. This is excellent for winter health as it warms you up and stimulates your body to fight colds with the fresh ginger and garlic. Enjoy!

body re.Creations featuring Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy

What is Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy? It is not surprising you might not know, as I am the only certified massage therapist in Bend to practice this unique modality and have only been in Bend since the summer of 2006.
Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy (AOBT) is the western adaptation of Japanese barefoot massage. It is a deep compression massage the dramatically lengthens, stretches and detoxifies muscles. I use soft, clean feet as the bodywork tool, to sweep and swirl away muscle tension. This technique has been called "the deepest most luxurious massage on the planet". With that said, why not give it a try. Although AOBT is not recommended for your first massage, it is perfect for the average person, especially if you are atheletically inclined and appreciate a deep tissue massage.
